There is nothing quite like sleeping in the great outdoors. The beautiful natural light that you awake too is truly magnificent and the whole process of camping really is therapeutic as a whole. There really is a sense of achievement that you get afterwards when you have coped with the harsh climates of the outdoors.

There is no feeling of being trapped, stuck and bored in a hotel room when you go camping. When you go camping you get a sense of freedom and a sense of adventure that you simply can not get from any other experience from any other part in life.

If you think camping lake Garda is too hard and too time-consuming to setup camp, then you are wrong. The infamous tent set up really does not take very long, in fact, you can even get pop up tents, but that takes all the fun out of it. Pitching the tent is a bonding experience and with a team of people, it could not be easier and once you have the tent set up you really can make your camping experience as luxurious as you want.

If you think that you will not be comfortable enough when camping, then you are wrong again. You can add state of the art air beds which are now comfier than ever and may even be comfier than your bed at home. You can also bring pillows for extra comfort and by the time you get in your sleeping bed after a relaxing day camping you will simply drift off to sleep, without a care in the world

While some churches, such as San Zeno are ancient and now lay in ruins, they still offer fantastic photography, sight-seeing and historical education opportunities. Others such as Collegiata Church and Evangelical Trinity Church are still active and the site of pilgrimages and regular services. Other features of the various town churches include examples of many different architectural styles, classic artwork and frescoes, miraculous shrines and examples of monastic life - enough to make touring the churches of Lake Garda a fascinating vacation experience.

On the western side of Lake Garda is Gardone Riviera, a compact resort with so much of interest.
A short walk from the lakeside promenade is the atmospheric Andre Heller Botanic Garden. Also known as the Giardino Hruska Botanico, this garden contains plants and influences from all over the world to delight connoisseurs of Japanese aquatic plants and lovers of alpine flowers alike. Water features abound; nymphs and statuary, from Indian to Moroccan style, fascinate at every turn.

In the Viale dei Colli is the Museo Il Divine Infante, boasting an important collection of sculptures of the infant Jesus in media such as wood or terracotta, adorned with beautiful fabrics and jewellery.

If you like your culture a bit more individual, don’t miss the Il Vittoriale degli Italiani. The Liberty-style, villa home of the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio, this is a gem of eccentricity where you will find darkened rooms filled with D’Annunzio’s collections of art, an amphitheatre, a mausoleum and the prow of a ship placed into a hill!

With buses and ferries to connect you easily with the other Lake Garda resorts, Gardone Riviera is the perfect Italian break for your holidays at lake Garda in apartment!

I last visited Lake Garda as part of a school trip in 1997, and fell in love with the place.

Last year I returned with my family, happy to see that it still retained its charm and character. We stayed up at the northern end of the lake in the lakeside resort of Gargnano in an excellent 4 Star hotel. I advise paying extra and getting a room with a lake view as it is such a stunning sight to wake up to every morning especially will the glorious mountains as a backdrop.

The northern half of the lake has more resorts that the south and whilst the southern part is closes to Verona, the north is my preference. You may be reading this thinking "whats the big deal - I can travel between the two areas"? It actually takes 4 hours to travel between the two areas on ferry which is why it's important to do your homework first.

The hotel facilities included a restaurant terrace that overlooked the lake which was just perfect for breakfast and dinner and it also had a private pool offering similar views - a lot of the luxury hotels had these benefits.

The quite setting of lake Garda is simply wonderful. We absolutely loved stay on the lake, at the Hotel Lake Garda called "Baia D'oro" as this provided the perfect atmosphere for us to relax, unwind and enjoy our short break away. The wooden peer on this hotel was beautiful, we often visited here to relax on the sun beds and top up our tans. The hotel staff were very pleasant and overall the hotel provided not just a peaceful setting but there was also activities that we were able to take part in, through the hotel.

Taking a boat tour on lake Garda really is essential if you are staying there. You can either take a guided tour or you can hire your own. We were new to the island so we went on a guided tour in order to get around the lake. You pay a little more for this and you don't quite get the freedom but you really do see what the lake has to offer from a true expert on the surrounding lands. As a keen golfer, the hotel was also keen to point me in the direction of the nearest golf course, which isn't far and is truly beautiful to play on.

The great thing about this hotel is that there is a sensational restaurant on site that delivers high quality food and wine. We ate there most nights and the food is expensive but it is also worth it because the quality is simply second to none.

My husband and I spent a week in Soiano del Lago for our wedding anniversary this summer. It is a lovely medieval village on Lake Garda in Brescia province in northern Italy. We stayed at the Monastero lake Garda Hotel, a relatively small, but wonderfully elegant place offering many comforts for couples, from the sauna and experience shower to massage and a relaxation area in the wellness centre. We even had a Jacuzzi in our bathroom.

The Monastero is one of the more modern hotels in the area. Our room was nicely furnished and quite large, with an enormous balcony overlooking the hotel’s swimming pool. The food at the hotel was excellent, with plenty to choose from for breakfast and dinner. The staff was impeccable.

We spent most days going on boat rides and exploring some of the castles and old churches in the area. We visited a winery to try some of the local wines and they were exquisite. My husband was thrilled to discover a golf course in the vicinity and he made some new friends there. While he was playing golf, I spent a few afternoons taking pictures of the area and enjoying the Turkish bath. It was an incredibly relaxing stay for both of us and hopefully we can return next year with the kids. I am sure they would enjoy a trip to Gardaland, which is just on the other side of lake.
